Kelly Clarkson Faces Another Lawsuit from Ex-Spouse Brandon Blackstock

17th April, 2024

The ongoing legal dispute between Kelly Clarkson with her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, has taken a new turn as Blackstock and his management firm, Starstruck Management, respond to Clarkson’s latest lawsuit. The former American Idol winner recently filed a lawsuit seeking more than the $2.6 million awarded by a California labor commissioner. However, according to court documents obtained by People Magazine, Blackstock and Starstruck Management vehemently deny all allegations raised by Clarkson.

In the lawsuit, Clarkson accuses Blackstock and Starstruck Management of violating state labor laws dating back to 2007, when she entered into an oral agreement with the company. Despite Clarkson’s claims, the court documents assert that the previous ruling in November 2023, which awarded Clarkson $2,641,374 in commissions, is binding due to her failure to file a notice of appeal within the stipulated timeframe.

Furthermore, the documents highlight that any alleged illegal earnings from Blackstock’s role as an unlicensed talent agency have already been partially or fully paid out to Clarkson and Blackstock’s community estate. Additionally, Blackstock’s legal team argues that Clarkson’s complaint lacks sufficient facts to constitute a cause of action against Starstruck Management and is therefore legally barred.

As the legal battle between Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock unfolds, the intricacies of labor laws and contractual agreements come into sharp focus, underscoring the complexities of high-profile celebrity divorces and disputes.
