‘Jamun Ka Darakht’ Grabs Best Short Film, Best Actor Awards at US Film Fest

Film director Rafay Rashdi recently took to Instagram to share the exhilarating news of his short film “Jamun Ka Darakht” clinching two prestigious awards at the South Asian International Film Festival in Florida. Expressing gratitude for the recognition, Rashdi joyfully exclaimed, “This is the first-ever award I’ve ever won in my life. After coming first in grade 2 of course.”

Meanwhile, lead actor Adnan Siddiqui, after facing criticism for previous remarks, also celebrated the film’s success on social media, tweeting, “Winning the Best Actor award at the South Asian Film International Festival Florida (SAIFF) for my movie Jamun Ka Darakht is an immense honour.”

The film explores the intricacies of the fashion world, delving into themes of consensuality and self-realization. Selected to be screened at the prestigious Cannes World Film Festival, the film, written by renowned screenwriter Bee Gul, features Siddiqui in the role of Karim, alongside actor and model Fouzia Aman and Maha Tahirani.

The film’s triumph at the South Asian International Film Festival underscores its impact and artistry, further solidifying its status as a much-lauded venture in Pakistani cinema.
